- Visual Summaries of Geographic
Databases based on Chorems.
Invited talk given at the 14th International Conference on
Distributed Multimedia Systems, Hyatt Harborside at Logan Int'l
Airport, Boston, USA, September 4 to September 6, 2008.
- New Perspectives in GIS
Databases.
This talk was given at the Computer Science Department of the
University of Houston, Texas on November 2007. Previous versions were
given during
the EuroSDR Honor Seminar in Munich mid October 2003, and also as a
seminar at the University of Karlsruhe mid November 2003.
- Pervasive
and Mobile Information Systems: Infrastructures for
Location-Based Services. A tutorial given during the
26th
UDMS Symposium in Stuttgart, Germany in October 2007.
- Visual Access to
City’s Websites. This talk was given during the Summer School in
Software Engineering in La Plata National University on
February 2007.
- Ontologies and Urban Databases. This invited talk was given
during the First COST C21 (Towntology)
Conference held in Geneva 6-7 November 2006.
- A Primer of Geographic
Databases Based on Chorems. This talk was given during the SEBGIS
Second International Workshop on Semantic-based
Geographical Information Systems (SeBGIS'06), October 29-November 3,
2006, Montpellier, France.
- Modelling Tools for
Environmental Data. This talk was given during the ECO IMAGINE Training
Course, 31st May-6th June
2005, Estoril-Lisbon, Portugal.
- Introduction to Urban Ontologies. This talk was given as a
tutorial during the 24th UDMS symposium in
Chioggia, Italy, October 2004.
- Virtual Museums. A survey made in 2002 about
virtual museums, distinguishing, real museum presentation, gateway to
several real museums, and finally virtual museums without walls.
- Computer Systems for Public
Participation. A survey of possible computer techniques for
promoting and organizing public participation in urban planning.
Emphases are given on forums, websites, virtual reality and annotations
through hypermaps.
- Analysis of Web Sites Portals
in Some Local Authorities. Presentation of a research made in 2001-2002
concerning the portals of local authorities' website: analysis of
salient issues and used metaphors.
- Presentation of the book "Information
Systems for Urban Planning: A Hypermedia Cooperative Approach". This book published in
January 2001 deals with innovative aspects of information systems in
urban planning. Emphases are given on multimedia, groupware and public
participation.
- Groupware for Urban Planning and Computer Systems
for Public Participation.
Results of findings made in this domain, especially after the workshop
on Groupware for Urban Planning.
- Federating Geographic Databases: a Step towards
Interoperability. Works made by Robert Laurini during the 1990 decade
regarding the federation of several GIS databases, especially for
ensuring spatial continuity across different databases in geographic
partitioning.
- A Primer of Telegeomonitoring. General introduction of the
cross-fertilization between GIS and telecommunication. Some elements
came from the Tullio Tanzi's PhD.
- Auditory Urban Information System. Presentation of the research
made with the National University of Pusan (Korea) for the design of
databases dealing with sound in city, especially the soundscape and
value indexing. PhD of Myoung-Ah Kang.
- Field-oriented Databases for Spatio-temporal
Phenomena.
Presentation of the research made with the University of La
Plata/Buenos Aires for the design of databases dealing with continous
phenomena such as temperature. PhD of Silvia Gordillo and Catty
Mostaccio.
- Visual Languages for Querying Spatio-Temporal
Databases GIS. Presentation of the works in visual languages for
GIS after the CIGALES project initiated by Marie-Aude Aufaure-Portier,
overall Christine Bonhomme's PhD dissertation. Extensions for
spatio-temporal issues.
- Photopolis Project (Updating
Urban Database from Aerial Photos). Presentation of the research
made during the 1990 decade for using aerial photos for updating urban
databases: PhD Dissertations of Sylvie Servigne and Bruno Tellez.
